A range of different services operate from our Enablement Centre in Langsdale Street, all aimed at helping individuals find a route out of homelessness and enabling them to make a positive change to their lives.
Open Access drop in We operate an Open Access drop in at our centre on Langsdale Street for those sleeping rough where breakfast, showers and laundry facilities are available. Our bank of Triage workers ensure people are signposted to a range of internal housing, welfare rights, education, employment and medical advice services.
The service is open weekdays between 8.00am and 10.30am.
Activity Sessions A whole range of activity sessions are held in our Centre every morning between 10.30am and 12.00pm Monday to Friday for people who attend our Open Access Centre. They provide a great opportunity for people to try something new, develop skills and build confidence. There’s something for everyone.
Structured learning In the afternoons, from 1.00pm, accredited or structured learning sessions take place in the Centre which offer our service users the chance to develop their skills, improve their education and prepare for work.
The Whitechapel Centre’s Enablement Centre is funded by Liverpool City Council’s Homelessness Grant, Supporting People, Mental Health Community Care Grant and private, charitable donations.
MOVE Project (Making Opportunities for Voluntary Employment) The Whitechapel Centre MOVE Project provides opportunities and support for homeless / socially excluded people to become skilled volunteers and befrienders. We actively encourage all members of the community to volunteer with us, in order to help enhance the range of services we provide for people who are homeless or socially excluded.
We offer a range of courses to help prepare people for volunteering. For further information click here
