Who can use this service?
It is only possible to access the family centre by referral from Liverpool City Council's Housing Options Service. They can be contacted by calling into any One Stop Shop or by phoning Careline on 0151 233 3800
(freephone 0800 731 6844).
The Whitechapel Centre, jointly with SHAP, runs the Belvidere Family Centre. The Belvidere Family Centre provides emergency accommodation for homeless families who have been assessed as needing the service by Liverpool City Council's Housing Options Service.
The accommodation is provided on a temporary basis and the average length of stay is about 10 weeks. The Belvidere staff work with Residents to help them prepare for and move on into other accommodation appropriate to their needs. The service is provided 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
The centre provides a safe environment for families where staff work to help address any support needs. We provide opportunities for residents to increase their skills and independence and work towards identifying their own future requirements. As well as individual support, families can access a number of activities through the centre including a homework club, craft sessions, cultural celebrations, visits and trips.
The Belvidere Family Centre celebrated two years of operation in August 2014. During the first 2 years, we helped more than 150 families move on into their own accommodation.
