The Whitechapel Centre is the leading homeless and housing charity for the Liverpool region. We work with people who are sleeping rough, living in hostels or struggling to manage their accommodation. We are committed to helping people find and maintain a home and learn the life skills essential for independent living.
The Whitechapel Centre was set up in 1975 to address the growing numbers of homeless people around inner city Liverpool. Today we employ over 60 staff and have a reputation not only for the range and quality of our services, but for our ability to get things done.
Every year we help over 1800 people in the Liverpool region. There are many strands to the work we do. We meet basic needs such as breakfast, shower and laundry facilities. We prevent people becoming homeless by giving free housing and welfare rights advice. We support people with mental health, drug and alcohol issues to stay in their own home. And we support individuals and families prepare for the transition from temporary to permanent accommodation.
