Joanne Clynch has been a Whitechapel Centre Outreach Worker for over a year, going out and about meeting and supporting those who are rough sleeping. Jo said, “It’s so very rewarding. My team treat the people we support with dignity and respect, giving them the independence to make their own choices and supporting their decisions. I like that we encourage their voices to be heard in a respectful manner and we’re a shoulder to lean on during the tough days.
“The people we support will often tell us how grateful they are for our help and they like that we don’t judge them, that we take the time to enjoy a coffee together and also join in with a chat and a laugh. “As a team we also look after each other as some days can be tough for us too.
“I’ve had the pleasure of getting people placed in their own homes and enjoyed the celebrations when they find employment. I get job satisfaction in knowing I’ve helped someone achieve their goals - and it doesn’t end there as we’re always here to help them.”
