Where?: This role is based at The Whitechapel Centre, Langsdale Street, L3.
When?: Shifts will be Monday – Friday, 9.30am – 1.00pm, 1.00pm -4.30pm
What will I be doing? You will be providing support to staff and clients at our Homelessness Assessment Centre. The role will be varied and involve supporting staff in conducting homelessness assessments, as well as providing person centred support to clients based on their individual need – completing applications online for Universal Credit, supporting people to make telephone calls and book appointments with external agencies, and general support to the assessment process. Additionally, you will provide more practical support to meet immediate need – provision of light refreshments, provision of clothing, and managing access to facilities such as the showers and laundry. You will also support the general running of the centre, helping staff to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
What do I need to do this?
This role requires you to be reliable, empathetic, non-judgemental and approachable. A strong awareness of confidentiality, and an ability to respect a person’s sensitive information is required as well. Also, having some resilience is important, as you will be working directly with vulnerable people with multiple and complex needs, often presenting with challenging behaviour. Having good listening skills, and having strong professional boundaries is important too. You’ll also need to be over the age of 18.
