Councillor Millar, who is the Cabinet member for business and enterprise, invited volunteers and staff to the collect the cheque from Liverpool Town Hall today.
David Carter, Chief Executive of The Whitechapel Centre said, "We are so thrilled to be a beneficiary of the Lord Mayor's Appeal. The financial donation will help us ensure more people in Liverpool can find and keep a place they can call home. In addition, the year-long involvement with the Appeal has introduced our work to a much wider audience around the city. We have seen an overall rise in the number of people, organisations and companies who support us and this is in no small part due to the fantastic effort that Gary and Steve made. We are very grateful to them, the fundraising committee and everyone who supported the appeal"
Pa, a volunteer at the centre, met with Cllr Millar during his term as Lord Mayor, she said, "We really enjoyed it when the Lord Mayor visited the centre. He sat down and talked to people and listened to their stories. The centre is open every day of the year and needs help and donations to keep it running. It has been great to see so much support for Whitechapel."
