Craig, with the assistance of our housing support team, moved into one of Whitechapel’s new shared housing properties and was keen to tell a little of his story. Here it is in his own words: -
“Hi Folks, my name is Craig. I’m just the normal ‘Joe Bloggs’. Anyway, a few months ago, just before Christmas, I found myself homeless, which came as a shock. I was staying with a mate called ‘Adam’ during that time and I was finding it difficult to find a place that was secure and safe.
It was The Whitechapel Centre that gave me the help and chance of being where I am today. I am in a lovely shared house, with two other lads who have also been in the same situation and know what I was going through. The support worker we have has been there every step, to make sure we are feeling secure and comfortable and has made the house into a proper home.
The Whitechapel Centre has lots of things for me to engage in, including sports, music, and lots of different courses. I know, through time they will get me a flat of my own, but in the meantime I am happy and settled here.
I would urge anyone who finds themselves homeless to contact The Whitechapel Centre because they genuinely care and go the extra mile to help you.”
