The Inspirational morning session was a discussion about alcohol dependency, with representatives from some key agencies, as well as individuals who are in recovery. We heard from Kevin Waldron, who has recovered from addiction and homelessness and now works for The Whitechapel Centre as Patient Mentor based in the Brownlow Group Practice, as well as delivering Alcohol Awareness sessions at the centre.
Addaction’s Outreach Team, who engage with people who are affected by drugs/alcohol misuse and encourage them into treatment, and staff from Transforming Choice, the new detox and rehabilitation service in Liverpool also joined the discussion.
Over lunch we were entertained by several service users, including Jamie and our music group while The Brink served up some of their fabulous fruity mocktails.
The afternoon workshop was led by Carole Benn and focused on hope and change and concluded with participants adding their hopes for the future onto our Tree of Hope.
It was a truly inspirational and moving day which gave hope to many that it is possible to make changes in their life.
We would like to thank everyone who attended, participated, spoke, performed, organised and volunteered to make it such a wonderful day.
