Working with Liverpool Housing Trust we are operating a small number of shared houses. These are fully furnished and in addition to the rent, occupants pay a small personal charge to cover the cost of heating and lighting.
People can stay a short while and acquire the skills and knowledge to sustain a tenancy and then move on into their own independent accommodation. The project is suitable for people in a range of circumstances, e.g.:
- People who are homeless/ in housing need and have not had much experience of managing a tenancy - they may have always lived with family or friends.
- People who have been through a crisis and need accommodation in a hurry and some help to get back on their feet.
- People who have a history of rough-sleeping and hostel living and need a period to get ready to manage their own tenancy
- People who are homeless/ in housing need, have had tenancies which went wrong in the past and need some support before they are ready to manage their own tenancy again.
The project offers another choice for people who are homeless/ in housing need as an alternative to an independent tenancy or hostel accommodation.
