This role is based at The Whitechapel Centre, Langsdale Street, L3 8DT
When?
Shifts are Monday – Friday, 10am -12.30pm, and 12.30pm – 3pm.
What will I be doing?
Supporting our Emergency Food Provision, you will be helping to put together food parcels for delivery to our service users. This includes helping to receive and unload incoming donations, sorting our stock of donations, checking expiry dates, and packing food parcels. If you are a Driver with access to your own vehicle, you can help to deliver food parcels to our service users in various locations.
What do I need to do this?
For this role it is helpful if you enjoy working as part of a team. It can be a fast paced role, as we put together over 180 food parcels a week. It can be quite a physical role, as we deal with large volumes of food coming in and coming out of the service. Ideally you’ll be reliable, committed and compassionate. Being comfortable working on your own initiative is helpful as well. This is a dynamic role, and the level of activity is dependent on the how many food parcels need to be prepared that day, and how many donations we receive– so sometimes it may be quiet, and other times quite busy, so you’ll have to be happy shifting pace depending on what’s happening. But most importantly, being happy to get stuck in and help where needed. You’ll also have to be over the age of 18.
