Where?: This role is based throughout St Helens and Knowsley.
When?: We are looking or volunteers who are able to meet staff at various pre arranged locations in either St Helens or Knowsley, from 7am in the morning, as well as other times throughout the day.
What will I be doing? You will be supporting our Assertive Outreach team, engaging with rough sleepers and people living street lifestyles. You will be engaging with people, offering encouragement and support, and helping the Outreach Worker to build up trust and encouraging people to engage with our support. Additionally, you will be supporting Outreach Staff to support the move on of clients from the streets into their own accommodation, including undertaking assessments and home visits. This is an opportunity to support some of the most vulnerable and hard to reach people, with the ultimate goal of resolving their homelessness and moving them forward into their own tenancies
What do I need to do this? This role requires you to be comfortable with physical activity, as it can involve a lot of walking. Being comfortable working outside is important too, and having access to suitable clothing for working in inclement weather! You will also be comfortable and able to meet staff at various locations throughout St Helens and Knowsley, and early morning starts (7am). You will be approachable, non-judgemental, and reliable. Also, having some resilience is important, as you will be working directly with vulnerable people with multiple and complex needs, often presenting with challenging behaviour. Having good listening skills, and having strong professional boundaries is important too. You’ll also need to be over the age of 18.
