Post: Floating Support & Resettlement Worker Grade: National Joint Council (NJC) SCP 17-22 (£28,770-£31,364 FTE) Hours: Part time, 26 hours per week (£19,947 - £21,745 pa) Contract: 9 months fixed term maternity cover Location: Wirral The Whitechapel Centre’s mission is to prevent and resolve homelessness, social exclusion and housing poverty by providing practical, realistic, tailored support so that each person can find a route out of homelessness, maintain a home and achieve their individual potential. We are currently inviting applications against a fixed term vacancy in our Floating Support Service based in Birkenhead, Wirral. The service primarily operates on weekdays 9am to 5pm. The role involves delivering effective homeless prevention and wellbeing advice and support via drop-in clinics along with longer-term, practical help and support which addresses the underlying issues which can affect an individual’s success in accessing and sustaining suitable accommodation. We are looking for an experienced practitioner with excellent needs/risk assessment and case management skills who has a good working knowledge of Housing and Welfare Rights, experience of delivering personalised support plans and advice about housing, benefit maximisation, substance misuse problems, domestic abuse, care and mental health services. Highly organised and with the confidence to work well in a multi-agency setting, you will be comfortable using your own initiative to make informed and effective decisions. We are now looking for an exceptional full time Management Information Administrator to join our team. This is a busy and varied role which will suit someone who is able to demonstrate a natural ability to analyse data in order to make smart, strategic decisions. We will expect you to bring first class communication skills and an obsession for fine detail. Role: Intensive Support Worker
Salary: NJC SCP 17 - 22 (£28,770 - £31,364) Hours: 37.5 per week Location: Halton The Whitechapel Centre’s mission is to prevent and resolve homelessness, social exclusion and housing poverty by providing practical, realistic, tailored support so that each person can find a route out of homelessness, maintain a home and achieve their individual potential. Working on behalf of Halton Borough Council we deliver an Intensive Support Service for people with multiple and complex needs. The aims of the service are to engage with clients over the long term and through their journey from crisis and into care, treatment and support, enabling them to achieve better and more sustainable personal outcomes including better housing, health and well-being and a reduction in offending behaviour. We are looking for an exceptional Intensive Support Worker with a good working knowledge of Housing and Welfare Rights, at least 2 years’ experience of working in a homelessness, housing or support setting, discharging creative and innovative resettlement / support plans, and providing first class advice and support to people about benefits maximisation, substance misuse problems, domestic abuse, care and mental health services. Highly motivated, tenacious and confident, you will be comfortable using your own initiative to provide initial crisis intervention and to make informed and effective decisions when representing your clients’ best interests within key mainstream and specialist housing, welfare benefits, health and social care services. Car use is essential for this role. Applicants are expected to offer some flexibility to work at weekends and during the early mornings and late evenings by arrangement. Role: Community Support Worker (Drug & Alcohol)
Salary: NJC SCP 17 - 22 (£28,770 - £31,364) Hours: 37.5 per week Location: Liverpool Whitechapel have been awarded funding for an exciting new pilot project aimed at supporting people who are experiencing housing-related problems in their homes which relate to issues caused by drug and alcohol dependency - helping them to resolve their housing-related issues and to engage with drug and alcohol treatment services. This is part of a national project aimed at developing an understanding of which approaches to support provision improve recovery outcomes for people experiencing housing-related need. Funding is to end of March 2025 in the first instance. Whilst we will be seeking continuation funding for the service, we can’t guarantee our success, so these roles are being offered to internal candidates on a secondment basis in the first instance. Taking a trauma-informed and 'housing led' approach roles will involve working flexibly to provide holistic, individualised assessment and asset-based support planning, including working in partnership with other agencies to: identify barriers and underlying reasons why people have a housing-related need; remove low level problems such as rent arrears, disrepair, landlord complaints which can put people at risk of homelessness, and support people to address their alcohol or drug use and to access appropriate treatment services. Hours are 9 – 5 Monday to Friday in the main but with flexibility to work outside of normal office hours as needed. In return we offer a supportive work environment, good pension and health benefits. Role: Hub Housing Advice & Homeless Resolution Worker

We are pleased to invite you to join our advice and assessment team and enhance the services we offer to people who are sleeping rough or in temporary accommodation. Your role will involve providing comprehensive, high quality housing advice, advocacy and assistance to help resolve or prevent homelessness and housing need. A first-class communicator with extensive experience of working in partnership with other professionals, agencies and stakeholders in a homelessness, housing or welfare advice setting, you will have an expert knowledge of housing legislation, first class assessment skills and a proven track record of delivering creative and innovative solutions that prevent and resolve homelessness. Experience of working with people who have a history of substance misuse, domestic abuse, or involvement with care and mental health services would be a distinct advantage.
