The Meaningful Engagement Pathway is an umbrella term referring to several different, but interconnected, Whitechapel services, all of which provide opportunities for meaningful engagement, developing positive connections in the community and potential move on for service users.
There are a number of pathways: New Beginnings New Beginnings provides a menu of formal and informal learning which allows members to use their time in a meaningful way, build resilience and learn / develop skills and knowledge. The New Beginnings team works across all Whitechapel Centre services delivering group and individual activities including art, photography, drama, cooking, ESOL, CV writing and digital inclusion. The team has strong partnerships with a range of organisations to support with progression into education, employment and training. Women’s Worker This role focuses on meeting the specific needs of women accessing our services. We offer bespoke person centred support and weekly women’s drop in support groups from a variety of venues. These groups can also offer woman meaningful activities and tailor the activities to individual needs. We work in partnership with other woman’s services to offer specialist targeted support. The Women’s Worker also helps to ensure that the women who access our services are given a voice at local and national levels. Volunteer Support & Mentoring Our volunteering service supports the development of service users, based around their individual goals and needs. This may be through volunteer support in relation to engagement activities, accessing services, and one to one mentoring. Service User Volunteering Volunteering can be an extremely positive activity for service users to engage in, when they are ready. To support this, we facilitate opportunities for our service users to engage with volunteering opportunities and training to enable them to develop their skills, confidence and experience, both within the Whitechapel Centre and the wider community. Service User Engagement & Consultation The Whitechapel Centre is a person centred organisation, committed to ensuring our services reflect the diverse needs of the individuals we support. As such, we regularly consult with our service users regarding their experiences, and review this feedback at Management Meetings and adapt our services accordingly. |
