YOUR FASHION MAKES FUTURES
Retail volunteerWhere?
This role is based at Open Door Allerton Road and Open Door Waterloo When? Shifts are Monday – Saturday, 10am to 13.30pm and13.30pm to 5pm What will I be doing? You will be supporting our staff in delivering a unique retail experience whilst raising vital funds for the Whitechapel Centre. Open Door isn’t your average Charity Shop – it has its own flair and unique aesthetic, and a dedicated local following due to the quality of the items on sale. You will help to process sales, restock shelves, merchandise, and sort through incoming stock of donations, and generally help staff in the upkeep and running of the shop. You will also be engaging with members of the public and donors regarding the work of the Whitechapel Centre. What do I need to do this? You’ll be reliable, friendly and approachable, and happy to engage with people. Good with communication, and good with IT (or be willing to learn!). An interest in fashion or creative arts is helpful, but not required! Attention to detail and being organised can be very helpful too. Most importantly, happy to work as part of a team and get stuck in. You’ll need to be over the age of 18 as well. |
Front of houseWhere?
This role is based at Open Door Allerton Road and Open Door Waterloo. When? Shifts are Monday – Saturday, 10am to 13.30pm and13.30pm to 5pm What will I be doing? You will be acting as ‘Front of House’ for customers and donors alike. This will involve supporting customers to feel safe and comfortable as they enter the shop, directing customers waiting to enter to queue in line with our Social Distancing and Safe Shopping protocols, as well as responding to any concerns our customers may have regarding safety. Also just generally engaging with people and being a warm and welcoming part of the team! What do I need to do this? For this role, you’ll need to be comfortable engaging with the public, and instructing them in safety guidelines in the shop. You’ll be asking people to queue to ensure that we have a safe number of customers in the shop at any given time, as well as being confident in explaining our safety procedures. Ideally you’ll be confident, friendly, and comfortable instructing people in our safety procedures. This role will require you to be on your feet for a good portion of the shift, so being comfortable with physical activity is important. This is a dynamic role, and the level of activity is dependent on customer footfall– so sometimes it may be quiet, and other times quite busy, so you’ll have to be happy shifting pace depending on what’s happening. But most importantly, being happy to get stuck in and help where needed. You’ll also have to be over the age of 18. |
