We are part of Legacy Liverpool, a group of local charities encouraging people to leave a gift in their Will.

 Why should I make a Will?
Surprisingly one in three people in the UK die without writing a Will. This can leave behind costly and upsetting disputes and may even see the Government disposing of your estate. You may not consider yourself to be wealthy but you may be surprised at how much your estate is worth when you include your house, pension and belongings. Including a charitable gift may also help to minimise your estate’s Inheritance Tax liabilities. 

How do I leave a gift in my Will to The Whitechapel Centre? 
We are pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to write your Will free of charge, online, through our new partner Bequeathed. It's a quick and easy process and there is no obligation to leave a gift to charity. Click here to get started.

The cost of using a solicitor or will-writer depends on how complicated your Will is.

If you have already written your Will you can amend it to include a gift to us with a Codicil form. This is a short document you can add on to your Will.

What type of gift can I leave? 
There are a few different ways to leave a gift: 
* A Pecuniary legacy is a gift of a specific sum of money e.g. £1,000
* A Residuary legacy is a share of your estate after you have provided for your family or friends.
* You can also leave specific items to charity e.g. a car, jewellery, books etc

How will my gift help? 
No matter how big or small, your gift will have a lasting impact on our work with people who are homeless. ​

• * £1,000 could open our centre for two days – providing vital services and support for rough sleepers
• * 5% of a £250,000 estate could pay for the recruitment, training and travel of our team of volunteers for a year

How will my money be spent? 
We hope that you will entrust us to spend your money on the most urgent work at the time. We will use it carefully so that it has the greatest impact. However, if you prefer, you can specify a certain area of our work to support. 

Do I need to tell you that I have left a gift?
There is no requirement for you to let us know but we would love to hear from you. If you do tell us, then please also let us know if you would like us to keep in touch with occasional updates on our work. ​​
